Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake Balls

Cream Cheese Chocolate Cake Balls

Cake Ball Mix

What you need

1 Dark Chocolate Cake mix (Extra Moist works best)

8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened

2 cups confectioner sugar

4 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon milk (or more, as necessary)

Baker’s wax

Chocolate Chips

Bake the cake and let it cool overnight at least. Then, break the cake into a large bowl. Crumble it up with your hands until it is in fine crumbs.

In another bowl, mix the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and milk together until smooth. Then mix in the crumbled cake and continue mixing with your hands, kneading and mixing until mixed completely with the cake.

When you’re done mixing, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate your mix until firm. A few hours is fine. However you can leave them it for a day or two if need be. Just be sure the mix is pretty firm before you make the balls.

Making the balls

Cover 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Take some of the cake mixture and roll it into a smooth ball. After you fill up the baking sheets with your cake balls, place them in the freezer.

Coating the Balls in Chocolate

Melt chocolate in a double boiler on the stove, add a small square of Baker’s wax and stir till smooth. Dip each ball into the chocolate with a fork until the ball is covered. Then place back on baking sheet with the parchment paper. Sprinkle, powdered sugar, coconut, sprinkles if you like to decorate the balls before they harden. Then, let them cool and harden before serving. They can also be put in the freezer after they harden to save for later.

I love this recipe and it will make a really nice desert tray for the holidays. Get creative with this, make them into Popsicle Cakes or add M&M’s or anything you like. I like them best dipped in white chocolate, now that is really good.
